L. Miller Home

The Millers' home speaks of their adventurous and unique personalities. It provides a gathering place for large groups of friends and family, a place where good food, insightful conversation, and laughter abound! The dining room is a very important room for them, so it needed to be just right and before the renovation, it was a bit too Victorian for their casual lifestyle. We started by replacing the formal valences with long, elegant silk panels which were a better fit for their European-style wall art.

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

DINING ROOM

We then shopped for reclaimed wood that would capture that casual feel, and from that a table was built by Mr. Miller himself. He not only did an exceptional job but the process enabled a perfectly-scaled table to be created to fit the size and grandeur of this large-scaled gathering space.
The formal crystal chandelier is even more stunning paired with this naturally beautiful wood. The contrasting effect is breathtaking! The art and Oryx Gazella mount offers a similar contrast. This fine balance of juxtaposed elements can create the most unique and lovely design, which reflect the unique and lovely people who live and entertain in this space.

BEDROOM

The master bedroom was in need of a breath of fresh air. Some brightening and lightning were in order! We began by removing the wallpaper and painting the walls with this fresh sea salt color. The dark drapes were replaced with light and airy linen curtains raised 8" above the molding to provide a grander look to the room. This is one of my favorite design tips.
New pillows and a fur throw freshen the existing bedding. The new window hardware and lamps pull together the other black accessories together gathered from other rooms of the house giving the space a sophisticated new look.
The finishing touch was the gold elephant found at a hip vintage store. It was the perfect piece to not only add fun and interest, but to also echo the homeowners' well-traveled lifestyle!
